Steel channel is a hot-rolled carbon steel made in a “C” shape. Constructed using a vertical web and top and bottom horizontal flanges with inside radius corners, it is available in a wide range of sizes and thicknesses. The shape provides superior structural support, making it an ideal product for frames and braces used for machinery, enclosure, vehicle, building and structural support applications. Handy Steel Stocks supplies Black Channel 300+, Duragal Channel and Hot Dipped Channel.

Steel channel is a structural steel product that features a C-shaped cross section, with a vertical back called a web and two horizontal extensions called flanges at the top and bottom. It is light compared to products like I-beams, and weaker, though it offers more support than angle iron or flat bars, without much of an increase in weight.
It is often used as a structural component in buildings, as rafters, studs or cross-bracing, and it can also be used to create trailer frames, vehicle frames and other structures. It is both versatile and affordable. At Texas Iron & Metal, we carry a large variety of steel channel in prime grades, and often have it available in our less-than-prime and surplus inventories.

Steel Channels, also known as a C-channel or Parallel Flange Channel (PFC), have a cross section that consists of a wide “web” and two “flanges” at each side of the web.

Channels or C-beams are often used where the flat side of the web can be mounted to another flat surface for maximum contact area.

We also have many sizes of Galvanized Channel in stock as well as Aluminum Channels.

A36 hot rolled steel c channels, also referred to as “American Standard Channels”, are an excellent candidate for most processing techniques. A36 hot rolled steel channels have a rough, blue-grey finish. A36 material is a low carbon steel mild steel which is long lasting and durable. Hot rolled C channels have a “structural shape” meaning at least one dimension (excluding length) is greater than 3 inches. C channels inside flange surface have approximately a 16-2/3% slope, which distinguishes them from “MC” channels. Common applications include structural support, trailers, and other architectural uses. ASTM A36 / A36M-08 is the standard specification for carbon structural steel.
